THE VIBE LAB is owned and run by William Drechsler. Bill has worked in Environmental testing for 33 years. In 1981, he began his Environmental Test career at General Motors in the Delco Environmental Lab in Goleta, CA. Litton Guidance and Control Systems took over the lab in 1996. Bill was the lab's Lead Engineer for 12 years. He managed, set up, and ran equipment to perform vibration, mechanical shock, pyrotechnic shock, thermal cycling, thermal shock, humidity, salt spray, tensile, compression, pressure, flow, and package testing. He also served as liaison engineer for other Mil-Std environments sub-contracted to outside labs. Equipment operated includes electrodynamic shakers, mechanical shakers, drop towers, pneumatic shock machines, pyro sheds, and climatics chambers. Product applications ranged from subsurface gyro guided oil rigs, oceanic sonar systems, ships, commercial automobile air bags, Indy race car active instrumentation, military ground vehicles, armaments, avionics, and navigation systems guiding launch vehicles to deep space. Programs have ranged from unrestricted R & D to the most stringent quality levels of NASA. For the last 15 years, Bill has been responsible for the Environmental Lab along with a Process Engineering role at one of Santa Barbara's largest defense contractors. Bill is nearly a Santa Barbara native and holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science and Engineering, from U.C. Berkeley.

THE VIBE LAB is located in the foothills of the south coast, 100 miles north of Los Angeles, just 5 minutes from downtown Santa Barbara, CA. We offer an alternative to the hidden expenses of staffing tests at distant locations, the tedious and time consuming packaging, shipping, and transporting of heavy and awkward test set-ups and the costly frustration involved with rescheduled or cancelled tests due to critical equipment inadvertently forgotten back at home.
THE VIBE LAB specializes in ESS overnight services with optional pick up and delivery to your facility for local customers. THE VIBE LAB welcomes operational Acceptance, Qualification, and Design Validation vibration and shock testing as well as response measurements for engineering in the lab or at your site.
THE VIBE LAB’s workhorse shaker system is a Ling B335 with a force rating of 18,000 force lbs with a 100 lb armature. The system has two B335 heads, one in the vertical position and a second with a 48” x 48” slip table. THE VIBE LAB also has a pneumatic driven AVCO shock machine for high g-level short duration tests not producible on the shaker.
You will be surprised by your THE VIBE LAB experience. You will be greeted by Bill who will direct you and your vehicle right into the lab. He will then help you unload your product and equipment so that he can quickly get to work on your project without delay. Or if you are local, Bill can pick up your test units, shake them and return them to your site.
